Good gyros are few and far between in Maine. Most places that offer them just throw frozen gyro meat on the grill and toss it on an ungrilled pita with sour cream. Having grown up on Kronos gyros in the Region, (you'll know where I mean if you know Kronos) I was immediately intrigued, yet not hopeful, as who would expect to find one of (I'm petty sure of this) the three gyro spits I've come across since I moved to Maine twenty years ago. The other two are in the market on Congress in Portland and my favorite (and most fun) - the traveling organic, wholistic and thoroughly hedonistic - the guys at the Fryeburg and Common Ground Fairs. Please let me know of others as I cannot have found them all. Oh yeah, the gyro at Yianni's is excellent and worth going out of your way if you have a gyros jones going on. I usually avoid wheat but this pita was grilled to perfection and I am happy to have used my WTF it's really good go ahead and eat wheat anyway allowance for the week on this indulgence that I usually only spend at the Standard Bakery in Portland or the incredibly buttery croissant from Dicocoa's in Bethel. Even though I avoid wheat, I find that most gluten free substitutes taste like a cross between styrofoam and drywall so I usually use my free passes on regular pizza. I have also tried the gluten free pizza here and found it better than just edible and far better than drywall. This is a far better option than the franchises in Norway. They also serve 22 oz draft beers.

Stopped here on a recommendation from Zolt who owns the gem mining place (Western Maine Mineral Adventures) in Woodstock. Pizza and garlic bread are excellent. Pizza was piping hot with a nice crisp crust. Definitely would come back if we are in the area.

Best pizza around! Great family atmosphere, good beer on tap and the service is lovely. This family-owned restaurant is a must try, if in the area. Don't drive by, stop in! You won't regret it!

Ordered a large pepperoni pizza and garlic bread with cheese would have gave it a 5....however I personally didn't care for the cheese on the garlic bread. I did however absolutely love the pizza and will give the pizza 5 stars. You can't go wrong for the price either however there's not a huge area to sit down so make sure you stop in and get your pizza pie on.....
